So, people will suggest animals that have a good chance of actually making it into the game. Since they implemented some of the animal suggestions for the regular packs, suggestions like that are more likely to be implemented. Lots of mechanics that take time and are expensive to develop.
PLANET ZOO FORUMS HOW TO
Also as you can tell from the Aquatic DLC there's a lot of weird behaviour with movement in water and the devs would have to implement and address so many mechanics at once to make fully aquatic species work, habitat gates, feeders, how to make pools work accessibly with the water tool of the game/have a separate tool for pools, etc. We definitely won't get species that suffer in captivity so that excludes a lot of the big names of fully aquatic species. People have been asking, demanding, begging, pestering. It's not that people on the forums don't want fully aquatic species or aviaries. With all this said, do you guys feel that the PZ Reddit community overall has a greater interest in seeing more semi-aquatic and fully terrestrial species added than flying and fully aquatic species? What do you as an individual want for the future of PZ? Would love to read anyone’s thoughts and opinions!Īlso below I’ve attached a simple poll in an attempt to better gage the community’s overall wants. I remember when the Aquatic Pack came out with its new diving mechanics and how much more hyped for it I was than any of the other previous packs (although the others were still great!) I’m not opposed to any style of DLC, there are still a number of terrestrial and semi-aquatic species I’d like to have in PZ, but I will admit that animals with new mechanics excite me a lot more than species that function the same as ones already in-game. For example, a Marine or Aviary pack would make more differences to PZ’s gameplay than a European or North American pack. Animals are really the only new “gameplay” that are added to PZ, so I thought people would want to see species added that bring entirely new mechanics to the game. I have no problem with this as everyone is entitled to want what they want, but was just genuinely surprised.
PLANET ZOO FORUMS FULL
The majority of those active on the forums seemed to be in some ways opposed to fully aquatic and flying species in PZ because DLCs focusing on these types of animals would take the place of DLCs more in align with what we currently are getting (DLCs featuring only semi-aquatic and full terrestrial species).

PLANET ZOO FORUMS SOFTWARE
Sure, developing business software means dealing with REALLY dumb people but at the very least they are in a business environment and not in a toxic forum of bullshit.Hi all! I have spent some time looking around on the official Planet Zoo forum (which is the only place that Frontier actually takes in feedback btw, make an account if you care about the future of this game!) and was kinda surprised about the general requests and opinions of its community. The last third is benign discussion - people reporting bugs (even though there's an issue tracker, but that thing is fucking jam packed with 250 pages of reported issues), asking how to do xyz, posting feature requests, etc.īut if roughly 60% of the community is behaving poorly and actively working against development by pissing off the devs and drowning out constructive discussion, then yeah I won't be going near game dev any time soon.
PLANET ZOO FORUMS CODE
We don't know, and I'm guessing you've probably never even written a line of code in your life so you REALLY shouldn't be telling these guys how to do their job. These fixes could mean a line of code, or they could mean a re-write of multiple core systems. Second of all, neither you nor I know how the game is built. So, neither you nor I should be making assumptions about how fast they can fix the issues, and definitely shouldn't make decisions about if the game should delay launch. First of all, you have no fucking clue what kind of manpower this development team has. A very common discussion is "Should they delay launch?" which makes my blood boil a bit.

Sorry, were you expecting a finished game? You wasted your money, then.Īnother third of the posts are people making decisions for the developers. 3y The Steam Community forums for the Planet Zoo beta have really reinforced my decision to stay far away from game development.Ī third of the posts are people who clearly have no idea what a beta is - "don't buy, too buggy".
